Vuja De
Wednesday, January 28th, 2009We all know what a ‘déjà vu’ is, the experience of feeling sure that you have experienced a new situation previously. On the Creativity World Forum 2008, Tom Kelley talked about ‘VujaDe’, more or less the contrary. VujaDe is the experience you have when you witnessed a situation for already 1000 times, but when you suddenly see something for the first time. Or as Marcel Proust once said: “The real magic of discovery lies not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
When looking with fresh eyes at the world that surrounds you, you will see opportunities for innovation. Force yourself to see a VujaDe and ask yourself why things are what they are.
Why do people still wear watches when they can see the time on their mobile phones? Why do cinemas not sell soundtracks before you are outside? Why do our phones have answering machines and why don’t our doorbells?
The approach proposed by Emprendo helps you to see situations through new eyes. By asking the right questions, you will see that the answers lead to opportunities for your organization. It’s up to you to evaluate each opportunity. But we think that it is better for you to see many opportunities so that you can choose the best one.
My remark : set aside your expertise and see ordinary things with fresh eyes
